Corporate culture is the secret sauce that organizations claim fuels success. Culture is often described as “how we do things around here,” but unfortunately is often measured with a “we know it when we see it” meter. HR is charged with managing it, hiring for it, and knowing when to exit someone who doesn’t fit it. Yet ambiguous and shifting cultural norms make managing corporate culture a challenge at every level in the organization. You need a way to accurately define your corporate culture so you can measure it.

Join Carla R. Messer, PhD for a strategic look into at how to capture and define the behaviors of your corporate culture. This session will examine the difference between what we say and what we do, how to determine what our values are, and provide a step-by-step guide to identifying the behaviors that truly make your corporate culture special.  Participants can expect to challenge current beliefs about corporate culture hiring practices.

This presentation will equip participants with valuable tools and a step-by-step process for guiding their organization in identifying, defining and developing their corporate culture.

The specific step-by-step process will guide HR professionals in identifying the specific behaviors to target and ensure fit.

Once identified, the HR professional will be able to plan and evaluate activities and programs that will solidify the corporate culture across a variety of functional areas including hiring, training and development, performance activities to ensure that the knowledge, skills, abilities, and performance of the workforce meet current and future organizational and individual needs.

Carla R. Messer, earned a PhD in Ethical and Creative Leadership and also holds an MBA in Strategy and a Master of Arts in Communication. She is Chief Results Officer for BestWork, a management consulting practice focused on unleashing the best in people and teams.  She is also an Assistant Professor at Indiana University East where she teaches in the school of business.
