Cultural intelligence, or CQ, is the capability to function effectively in culturally diverse situations. It is based on Sternberg & Detterman’s theory of intelligence and focuses specifically on learned skills that are critical for working effectively in culturally diverse environments. The CQ Assessment measures an individual or organizations skill level as it relates to effectively working in multicultural settings. Skills, unlike values and attitudes, can be developed and improved through education, training, and experience. This is the distinguishing element of CQ!  This session introduces us to the relevance of cultural intelligence in our lives and the work we do.

Learning Objectives:
-The relevance of cultural intelligence in 2020 and beyond
-What is cultural intelligence ("CQ")
-What are the four capabilities of CQ and how to they apply to the work I do



Eastledge Group Principal, Robin Shabazz is a business and organization consultant with expertise in teaching leaders at all levels how to become more efficient working in multi-cultural environments (i.e., how to become culturally intelligent). Robin is a licensed attorney and a Civil Mediator in the State of Ohio, whose career has spanned over 30 years with proven results in cultural transformation, diversity and inclusion, human resource management, and employee relations. As a certified Unconscious Bias and Cultural Intelligence facilitator, Robin capitalizes on her diverse background to bring both a pragmatic and risk mitigation approach to her work. 
Clients seek her counsel on a wide-array of workplace issues such as; cultural audits, workplace investigations, diversity & inclusion roadmaps, implicit bias training and human resource policy and procedure development. 
Robin speaks at workshops, universities, and seminars on unconscious bias, cultural intelligence, and building trust-based relationships. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration and a Juris Doctor.
