The use of artificial intelligence in talent acquisition is growing.  AI tools can help employers make smarter and more efficient hiring decisions and deliver better results in performance, retention and other areas of talent management, yet organizations need a full understanding of both the benefits and risks.  Co-presented by an attorney and an industrial psychologist, this unique seminar will provide an overview of how AI is being used within talent acquisition, as well as the legal and ethical considerations for employers that are considering adopting these new technologies.

Learning Objectives:
1- Overview of Use of AI in Talent Acquisition
2- Bias, Legal and Ethical Concerns in the Use of AI
3- Best Practices for Adopting AI Tools and Vetting AI Vendors

As counsel in the firm’s Labor & Employment practice, Heather Muzumdar provides business balanced legal solutions and advice to human resources managers, in-house counsel and business executives. Heather advises employers on best practices, develops policies and procedures, and provides training for human resources personnel and managers on a wide variety of employment issues, such as wage and hour compliance, FMLA, state and local leave laws, disability and religious accommodations, harassment, discrimination, background checks, drug testing, internal investigations, reductions-in-force, discipline and documentation, workplace violence, and a variety of other employment issues. She conducts proactive audits for clients to assess FLSA compliance (e.g., exempt/nonexempt status, off-the-clock work and other pay audits) and independent contractor classifications. Heather also drafts and provides advice on commission and bonus plans, offer letters, non-compete agreements, employment agreements, severance agreements, independent contractor and consulting agreements, staffing agreements and other agreements.
In addition, Heather provides guidance to financial services companies navigating both regulatory requirements and employment law considerations, such as conducting internal investigations, reporting employment terminations to regulators, conducting background checks, record keeping requirements for electronic communications, and developing compliant social media policies and procedures.
